This is a unique educational concept because it is the only radio broadcast training facility in the Connecticut area where the entire program is run in a working radio station operation. The training and education received is exactly the same as a new employee would experience. Included in the program are many hours of real time on-air work. Graduates are assured that they can move out to radio jobs with all the experience of an applicant who has been actively employed in radio programming. This gives Eastern Connecticut Radio Academy Broadcasting School graduates a competitive advantage when searching for work.Mike Merlin, Eastern Connecticut Radio Academy Broadcasting School director, is careful to screen applicants for the program to be sure they have a real opportunity to succeed in the program. The training is thorough and completely covers all areas of radio programming. Constant testing and review assures confidence in a successful outcome from the program."

"Cracking the microphone in the i-98.3 FM studio for the first time was both exhilarating and nerve wracking, but knowing that I did not have to be perfect and was in training helped tremendously with my confidence and ability. In addition to being on the air I was able to produce commercials for the radio station as well. Because of the skills I developed while training I now work at the very station I trained at."
